St. Joseph’s Women and Children’s Pavilion provides specific facilities for pre- and post-natal care within the large St Joseph’s Hospital Campus. The design of the building by Anshen + Allen is clearly modern but carefully softened through selection of materials and detail treatment to present a warm and welcoming aspect to patients and visitors. In addition to lighting design for the public areas, KSLD were involved in critical clinical areas including birthing rooms and neo-natal intensive care units, specifically considering the lighting suitable to relax mothers and babies. KSLD provided input to the concept renderings produced by Julio Llosa and the ArchiMedians to achieve the level of realism shown.
