Clynelish Distillery in Brora in the far North of Scotland is one of several visitor experiences we have worked on with BRC for Diageo’s Johnnie Walker brand homes project. In addition to the exhibition, we designed complex lighting for the story room. This is a complex multi-sensory space used to communicate the story of whisky at Clynelish. Controlled by the host and presenter the atmosphere of the room changes and specific elements are lit with a range of techniques. There is a custom dynamic colour changing chandelier over the table designed in conjunction with Stoane lighting.
The control system uses DMX protocol and is integrated with the AV system to achieve the immersive ambience. The whole project is characterised by careful integration detailing and highly glare controlled fittings to ensure that the focus remains on the presentation and storytelling rather than the lighting.
